Post your xorg.conf? And what do you mean, you don't know if it's working? It works if it works

thanks for the reply, here is my xorg.conf
And i m using laptop Toshiba Satellite 15.4'' best res 1280x800, I dont know where i should put "1280x800" in xorg.conf (supposed to be in the mode of subSection Display with Depth 32, but when i changed it and startx again, it actually didnt change anything at all) , the xorg.conf file is auto created by hwa -xa
also I wanted to know if the error "error setting MTRR (base = 0xd0000000, size = 0x10000000, type = 1) Invalid argument (22)" inflicts any harm to the system?

Thank you very much

Just try running X without an xorg.conf.
Autodetection is probably better than your huge config.

thanks xdeusx, i tried that but it just freezed after it got into X, couldnt do anything but hard reset:(

thanks a lot for your helps guys, i finally installed dwm and m using it @1280x800 depth 24b now,
I wonder if we can push it up to depth 32b?
also the font in dwm looks crippy crappy, like looking to a screen without anti-aliasing, Is it a known bug or just the problem with fonts? I will take a look at xorg font config now. thanks

Do you have HAL running? http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … otplugging option 1.

thanks, when i startx without xorg.conf to use autodetection as xdeusx suggested, i think xorg would automatically set AutoAddDevices True, so Hal might have been running then and that may be the cause of my freeze problem... anyway i made it (by pure luck i guess lol) adding "1280x800" in mode and set depth 24b thanks for the help
I LOVE archlinux
