any ideas as to what that means?  I believe I already had kde3.3 installed... seemed a recent update of KDE... and I'm using the ftp.archlinux.org servers...

Re: Problems upgrading KDE....

I had a similar problem when I upgraded from kde 3.2 to kde 3.3.  In my case, the trouble was coming from files coming from the kolourpaint package.  It is caused by pacman not knowing to which package the file belong.  If you do a pacman -Qo filepath, It will give you an error /warning.

I uninstalled kolourpaint , installed kde, reinstalled kolourpaint.

Could be a bug in the kde package or in pacman. I don't know.

Re: Problems upgrading KDE....

add the -f to pacman list then the files are overwritten and all should be fine
