Hello,
which is the best way to integrate GTK Apps like Firefox or Wicd in KDE 4.2?
I heard about Qtcurve and installed gtk-qt-engine qtcurve-gtk2 qtcurve-kde4. Is that ok?
But what preferences do I have to choose under the settings menu?
There are several options like "Use my KDE style in GTK applications" "Use another style -> Qtcurve or QT4"
Which one did you choose?
Thanks

Ehmm try it?
qtcurve will give the best results, but it has a more or less "fixed" look.
qt-gtk-engine on the other hand tries to a) create a pixmap theme for gtk applications based on the current qt theme, or b) lets you chose a gtk theme that is being used for gtk apps only.
also there is qgtkstlye - this will allow you to use your gtk settings for your qt applications. (your gtk style is set using an app like lxappearance)

Thanks that worked fine

Once again one thing - why does the method with Qtcurve doesn't work with Openoffice. It's still looking quite ugly (a little bit like the old kde 3.5)

Try using:
'export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde' or =gnome.
or, 'export SAL_GTK_USE_PIXMAPPAINT=1' (or both)
in your .bashrc, relogin, and try.

I would like to know how do you get gtk apps to look right if you somehow miss the Gtk apps look (or whatever it's called)
in my System Settings menu?
Here's the screenshot:

Whatever I do, I always end up with something horribly mis-configured.

You need to install gtk-qt-engine for that.
