Well what important file was it? Do u happen to know? It would be very helpful if u did know as we could trace / solve the problem fast
Edit: Does the system boot? From the way ur message is written i suppose it doesn't
If that's the case then the best solution probably would be to mount the partition with a Live CD and do a base installation
pacman -Sy base

Hi,
Sorry, I was very unclear in my post.
I did not delete a system file but a private file.
The filesystem is mounted to /home.
I am looking for something like a file recovery tool for ext4!
Thanks!

no idea for this one then
Did u also empty the trash can? or deleted it with rm ?
No knowledge on file recovery tbh

Unmount the filesystem, or remount it ro. The more writes you make, the worse it will be..
Maybe try aur/ext3undel, but I don't know if it works for ext4. They're similar, so worth a shot.

Well now - unix is kinda unforgiving this way:
windoze:
are you sure you want to delete this file (y/n)? Y
really? let me phrase this another way. If you delete it it's gone.
are you really, really sure you want to delete it (y/n)? Y
OK, but if you still want it, it can be found in your trashcan for ever and ever and ever ...
unix/linux:
you asked for it - you've got it!

You can try Daenyth's suggestion, but you might want to check out this entry in the Ext4 FAQ:

install test-disk from repos and try it or photorec (the same package, diffrent tool)

Of course you have a backup. Just use this...
