[SOLVED] X keeps crashing

Hey,

Every couple of minutes or so X keeps crashing and my screen turns black. Hitting ctrl+alt+backspace to restart it dumps me into
the CLI with the following error below, and I have to restart the computer. Killing and restarting X doesn't work.

I was running XFCE, but switched to OpenBox thinking this may solve the problem, but to no avail.

(EE) intel(0): underrun on pibe B! **(THIS ERROR FILLS THE SCREEN)**
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporaily unavailable) on X server "0.0".
after 145672 requests (145672 known processed) with 2 events remaining.
xinit: connection to x server lost

waiting for x server to shut down xterm: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) or Ki
.error setting MRRT (base = 0xd0000000, size 1x0000000, type = 1) Invaild argument (22)

I've just switched from Fedora last week and didn't have this problem, I've been searching all week but I'm unable to solve this.

Can anyone offer any help? Thanks.

Arch - NC10 - xf86-video-intel 2.4.3-1
My Xorg.conf if it's of any use.

It might be a good idea to remove your xorg.conf (after backing it up of course). I removed mine, and and have no issues.

Re: [SOLVED] X keeps crashing

Nope hasn't worked. sad
It crashed out just, funny thing is the screen turned red this time.

Grr was half way through editing a file and was forced to reboot, completley lost everything.

Any more help on this as Arch in too unstable for me to use atm, I'm having to run DSL of a USB till it's sorted.

Thanks.

Re: [SOLVED] X keeps crashing

Some intel drivers are unstable with newer xorg releases right now. There's a repo here that can be used to go back to an older X set up with all of the supporting libraries. Read through the opening post at least to understand what needs to be done:

Re: [SOLVED] X keeps crashing

Great thanks for that link skottish, seems to be working great so far.

Only thing I'm getting vertical black and white lines when I open apps (which I fought so hard to get rid off previously)
and my synaptics touchpad isn't being recognized (no scrolling)

I can live with this for the time being tho. Do you have any idea when the newer drivers are going to be released?

Thanks for your help again.

Re: [SOLVED] X keeps crashing

kYd,

If you haven't already, I suggest reading the now very long thread on xorg-server 1.6 in the testing subforum. What test1000 suggested may be very helpful; There seems to be some people finding good drivers now in the development branches of Intel stuff. Although that means that you'll have to upgrade the X stuff again, and that may cause some headaches.
