Here's the setup,
Running x86-64 at work, connecting through a squid 2.7 proxy hosted on another Archbox.
Since about 48hours ago I couldn't access https and imap.gmail.com on ssl port 993. At first I assumed it was the proxy server, but https works fine on my Windows and OSX machines as does imap ssl which connect through the same proxy.
As a workaround, I added an identical entry in Gnome Preferences > Network proxy > Secure HTTP Proxy. Now I have full access to all https sites, but still no access to imap ssl.
Have I encountered a bug? Or has SSL functionality changed? If so, what do I need to do to access imap on ssl port 993 ? The squid proxy server is my own, so I can change anything I need to on it.
Curious!
EDIT:
For unrelated reasons I decided to swtich from a static ip, to running wicd, as sometimes I need to switch network cables (and thus networks). Since I installed wicd and have a received my ip from dhcp, the ssl and imap problems have dissapeared.
I wish I could explain it. But I'm glad it's working again...
