[SOLVED] Computer is unresponsive

As soon as my computer enters X, everything becomes unresponsive....this just started randomly this morning....any help?

Some more info would probably help people diagnose this:

1) What video card/driver do you use?
2) Anything in /var/log/Xorg.0.log that looks suspicious?
3) Anything in /var/log/messages that looks suspicious?
4) Did you upgrade recently?  If so, what upgraded?
5) Any meteors hit your PC since yesterday?

I think if's a problem with hal. When I try and start it it jusf says "busy" forever

does anyone have any ideas? I'm gonna have to reinstall pretty soon....

EDIT: ok unbackgrounding it seems to have fixed it. weird..=P
