I have a mysterious little old computer siiting by my side. I have a PS/2 keyboard plugged into it and for some resaon i cannot get into bios or change grub order with it, it's unusable until i get to the login prompt. But with a USB keyboard it works perfect .
It have worked so far to boot with the PS/2 keyboard as the only keyboard and occasionally plugging in my USB when i need to enter BIOS or similar.
But today a problem started, i boot the comp and it stops while booting arch after "Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)" with a blinking prompt. But if i plug in the USB keyboard and reboot it works perfectly :S
Any clue on what i can do? And where can i disable edd? Is that dangerous?

Thats completely weird .
If anything you would have problems with usb keyboards before any OS boots (with older motherboards). In your case it's the exception to the rule but just to be safe I would make (really) regular backups of the important data.
As for Arch not booting I have no idea, have you tried the fallback kernel?

I got no important stuff at all at that computer. A 3GB hdd doesn't have space for important stuff
Hm, i have to plug in the usb keyboard to be able to choose the fallback kernel and that it makes it worthless, the only thing i can do is to change order in GRUB >_<
Is it in grub that i should disable edd?

Yes, you can change that in /boot/grub/menu.lst, after you open that file you will know what to do

Could be a hardware failure as well.
Just to be sure: Is the PS/2 keyboard still o.k.?
