small partitioning confusion :/

just a quick question.

would it be possible to partition my laptop's HD, using ext3 filesystems (except for for the existing vista install) and gparted on a livecd before install I arch? gparted is just easier...

i want to do it into just 3 partitions - vista, swap and the rest (the whole of my arch install). would the filesystem mountpoints part of the instalation be cool with having / /var /boot /home etc. all on one partition? will this be difficult to do?

thanks for your help!

Re: small partitioning confusion :/

Yes, it is possible to do that, just skip the partion step in the arch installer - go right to set mount points.

You really only need two partitions for a standard linux install - swap and /, but it can be helpful to have /home on its own partition if you want to change your system down the road.

Have fun!
