I am trying to install arch on my imac 24" which has a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics card. I installed the nvidia package via pacman and I am trying to set Xorg up. I am having a lot of trouble though. When I installed arch on my windows computer awhile back, I remember it was painless, but this is not the case.
I tried using all the methods given in the beginner guide, but if I quit X or type control-alt-backspace or control-alt-F2/F3 etc it goes to a black screen with no writing or anything. If i type control-alt-backspace and then type in startx again, x starts fine. It seems that after starting x, I cannot go back to the console. In my .xinitrc I have it start xterm.
