does anyone have in his aspire one a broadcom wireless card? Sometimes i can't connect to wifi i don't know why

Hi to all,

After I've read about the new Con Kolivas scheduler for low end processors I had to try it in my AAO.

I've returned to Arch after a brief time with ubuntu, and the speed difference was astoninshing, and I'm still to point fingers as to the kernel or xorg but now I'm able to view flash without having everything else locked up.

I've installed the new Brain F**k Scheduler from Con Kolivas and now I can have a fluid desktop experience, even with kernel config not optimized for the AAO.

I'm using Arch on my Acer AOA 150, with stock kernel. Surprisingly, i didnt have to set a xorg.conf file, and everything is working ok (even vertical srolling with the touchpad). Also the wifi led works correctly, and wifi works with no problem when resuming after suspend/hibernate.

The only issue (perhaps) is that temperature seems to raise faster than when i use win (which i sadly need at work).

Please, can somebody make img for USB flash with installed arch? With all drivers and new kernel? I have AOA 110. (512 / 8gb SSD). I download Arch, but cant install because got some errors (

UPD: Now all ok, i install ArchOne and its work!

_Finally_. My AAO works perfectly fine with 2.6.32 kernel. Wifi doesn't shut off 24/7. Speed is pretty good, etc. KMS is a bit glitchy (screen shuts off after a while, lol ), but apart from that it's perfect now.

trying the latest build out, and i'm running into a few problems.

firstly, no wireless. argh! no ath[59]k drivers are built with this kernel.

secondly, the thermal/processor controls seem to be remapped. i have /sys/class/thermal/cooling_device[01] instead of thermalzone

happy otherwise

I was having the same trouble with my screen shutting off, blanking out, or just generally flickering. It seems to be an issue with 2.6.32 kernels and the Intel driver (not kms.) There is a way to fix it if you're willing to patch and recompile your kernel.

Comment #15 in that thread contains the very simple patch I used to fix my Acer. Using the patch was a little outside my experience, but I can provide further help if you'd like (if the issue is severe enough to trouble you; for me, it was.)

Hi all!

I had installed Archlinux on AOA110 with SSD 8GB without any mods except SDHC 16GB in left card reader. And now I want reinstall Arch with SSD for / with ext4 and SDHC for /home with ext4 too. In fstab I placed this options:

none                   /var/log      tmpfs     size=10M   0      0
none                   /tmp          tmpfs     size=100M  0      0
none                   /var/tmp      tmpfs     size=20M   0      0

because "The temporary folders listed above will delete all files in those folders after each reboot. You may omit the last three lines, but have increased write access to the SSD." I think that logs and tmp are not important on netbook. But with this options I can't build kernel26-one-dev or install google-chrome-dev, I have message "No space left on device". I found the option in /etc/yaourtrc to change the tmp directory, but what better use for it: SSD or SDHC? And what permissions should have a directory?

On my system, the temp folder has permissions of 777 (full r/w). I'm not sure where you should put it, though. Shouldn't it go on the root device, whatever it is?

Also, if you build with MAKEPKG instead of yaourt, it shouldn't have to use the tmp folder at all. It's PROBABLY a good idea to build the kernel that way, in a subfolder (like ~/build), rather than using yaourt to do it.

That may be why one-dev isn't compiling properly: compiling the kernel takes up a lot of space. I just checked and my system my kernel-one-dev folder is somewhere near 700 MB. You don't have to keep that around after the kernel is built, though, as far as I know, but the space needs to be available for the compiling to succeed.

Hi Everyone,
I am using Acer Aspire 5738 G laptop.
Whenever I am trying to use bluetooth it just got hang.
So I am unable to transfer one file from Laptop to my mobile or vice versa.
Drivers are perfectly installed four times.
Any suggestion?

Hi everyone. I have recently adopted the kernel26-one package in AUR. My PKGBUILD is still based on the one by gothicknight until he sadly had to drop support for the package. The major change is that I am basing the kernel version on the one of kernel26 package in core repo.

I have already prepared 2.26.33 and it seems to be running successfully on my AAO - with greatly reduced energy consumption by 2W in both idle and load (compared to 2.6.32 for me) and a more stable WLAN. I'm not having any issues with the intel driver after standby either.

My main priority will be stability - and updates without too much waiting time. I use to prepare the release when I see a new kernel version popping up in testing. New features, saving space by deactivating unneeded stuff and other improvements are of lower importance to me but I'm definately open to suggestions. If you even provide a solution then I will add your proposals (given they don't affect stability and should better go to the -one-dev version).

One note: I won't be on the forum alot since I usually don't have the time to read up after work. So please contact me by forum message or email if there's sth. important on the kernel being discussed here or use the discussion function of AUR (for directly package related issues only).

Hi, I've got an Acer Aspire One 110-Aw, which I think is the same or pretty much the same as the A110L, and I'm trying to run kernel26-one on it. To no avail: on booting my Grub entry for that kernel, I get some text (too fast to read) scroll up the screen, then the screen turns off. The hard drive light flashes a little after that, and then the computer stops altogether, requiring a hard reset.

I'm not familiar with using custom kernels - maybe I missed something? My (grub2) entry is:

set root=(hd0,1)
linux /boot/vmlinuz-one root=/dev/sda1 ro elevator=noop snd-hda-intel.model=acer-aspire
initrd /boot/kernel-one.img

I tried with no initrd, I tried with the stock kernel's, and now using mkinitcpio to generate tthe kernel-one.img referred to above. Stock kernel works fine.

Any ideas anyone?

I have set up a Zen kernel for my Aspire One AO532h.
If you are also running Arch64 on your Aspire One, you might find this useful.
You will have to change this to include other hardware you might have.

Installed i686 Arch never thought of using Arch64, noticed some lag in some apps

Set up as per wiki, running EXT4 for / and /home

Thought SSD would be faster than hard drive

During testing the latest 2.6.34 kernel I am encountering problems, primarily when using Namoroka/Firefox with the program freezing but not the whole desktop. Other programs cannot be launched afterwards.

If other people test the package and give some feedback, it would be good to see if it is only my setup or a general error.

Sorry to sound thick but how do I boot from kernel-one, i got it from aur, done the usual stuff but i dont have kernel26-one.img in my boot dir, where have i gone wrong?

You have not gone wrong.
That kernel does not require an img.
Just edit your grub accordingly .)

edit grub to? i have /vmlinuz26-one... but get a grub error 15, File Not Found

tried without the 26 and it booted, got a ton of errors and x wouldn't start.
