Hello everyone,
After logging into KDE 4.2.2, w -f produces this:
USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
me :0 - 00:21 ?xdm? 2:38 0.02s /bin/sh /usr/bin/startkde
me pts/0 :0 00:22 47:11 0.00s 0.02s /usr/bin/kwrited
I don't think this was happening in 4.2.1, although it could have slipped under the radar. I'm not sure why kwrited is running at all, let alone under what appears to be another session.
My login's ~/.kde4 is fresh. There don't seem to be any options related to this in System Settings -> Advanced -> Service Manager (see screenshot). I'd like to disable this, I never use it. Any suggestions?
Also, I deleted everything in ~/ in a test account, and after starting KDE, there was no kwrited entry in that Service Manager either. It was also running on pts/0 as that test user. Off topic, I also can't prevent that KDE Time Zone Daemon from running.

I am no longer seeing this phenomenon. The most recent significant KDE update was kdebase-workspace, to 4.2.2-3. There's still no setting related to kwrited anywhere in System Settings
