I've just converted to Openbox with my new Arch64 install, and ive hit a snag, not a deadly one, but one nonetheless.
Is there anyway to rightclick a tar.gz file and have the option to unzip? Rather than have to open the archiver and then uncompress?

That depends on your file manager, not your WM .

If you use Thunar as filemanager you could create a user defined action. For example you could install unp from AUR and then create a user action with one of this commands.
unp %f
or
unp %F

ah cool, thanks guys
Edit:
Anyone else who had this struggle:
yaourt thunar -> thunar-archive-plugin
