flash drive mounting stuff

I don't know the right words for this otherwise I'd search for it because I'm pretty sure I've seen a guide for this in the past.

I updated the firmware for my mp3 player, I also reformatted it fat32 on windows.  Previously, when I'd plug it in I'd get something like /dev/sdb1 to show up.  Now I just get /dev/sdb.  I am able to mount this but it feels weird to me that it doesn't have like a partition number thing.  Does anyone have any comments on this?  Thanks.

Re: flash drive mounting stuff

Most USB drives have a partition table hence the X in /dev/sdbX where X is 1, 2, ..

Perhaps as a result of the firmware upgrade it is now just a raw filesystem? That is there is no partition table anymore.
