xrandr doesn't work

This is the thing, i want to add keybindings to dwm for xrandr, so i can choose between VGA and LVDS output with their own resolutions.

xrandr output:

[aleyscha@aleyscha 2 ~ 10:12]$ xrandr
Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0".
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 600, maximum 1024 x 1024
VGA disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS connected 1024x600+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
   1024x600 60.0*+
   800x600 85.1 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2
   640x480 85.0 72.8 75.0 59.9
   720x400 85.0
   640x400 85.1
   640x350 85.1

my commands:

xrandr --output LVDS --size 1024x600

and

xrandr --output VGA --size 1680x1050

but when i run this commands nothing happen neutral

in this thread http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65403&p=1 post #20 the user have the same problem

Do you actually have a VGA monitor connected?
