Lossless trim/split of aac and mp3 files

I have been searching for a linux program to trim/split aac files without needing to decode and reencode the file but as of yet I haven't found any (maybe I'm not searching properly hmm ).
Does anyone know of any program that does what I'm looking for?

The only closely related thing I've been able to find is shntool but it seems to decode the file to wav, then split it and reencode again.

Thanks in advance.

Edit:
A tool to join two files (using the same encoding, ripped with streamripper) without the need to reencode would be nice too smile

You can use mp3 directcut under wine to edit your mp3 without decoding. I don't know anything that can do the same with aac though.

Re: Lossless trim/split of aac and mp3 files

Thank you for your answers smile
I'll give gpac and sox a try and see which one works better for me.
As for using windows programs with wine, I was trying to avoid that unless I really have to. For windows there is a program called BeSplit http://dspguru.doom9.net/ which I have tried with wine but it wasn't working as expected (maybe my mistake).

Edit:
Neither gpac or sox are able to trim the aac files I save with streamripper, oh well, decoding to wav and reencoding will have to do the trick smile
