Hi.
I'd like to bring attention to my problem of Compiz breaking after upgrading to Gnome 2.26 on my i686 desktop machine. So far I haven't dared to touch pacman on my laptop, since it's set up pretty perfectly with Compiz at the moment, and I'd like to keep it working.
Searching on the forums reveals that the likely culprit is broken module paths, but this is definitely a problem that should be fixed by the package maintainers.
[edit: now that I need it I can't seem to find the original thread. It did, however, suggest symlinking Compiz plugin modules somwhere in the user's home directory - unfortunately I cannot recall anything beyond that at this time.]
At first I thought the breaking might have something to do with xorg-server 1.6.0 from [testing], but reverting to xorg-server from core changes nothing. My guess is something broke with the gnome support libs Compiz uses.
Discussion, workarounds and such welcome.

Strangely, no. I'm at work currently, will play around with it once I get home in two hours or so.
Furthermore, I found the thread I was referring to: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=68961
ps: I'm not slacking, my code's compiling.

I assume you use compiz from the community repo and not the -git ones as in the thread you linked? If so please open a bug report and add any relevant information you may find. Makes it easier for me to keep track of it.

Yes, I am using compiz 0.8.2-1 from [community].
With the --debug option enabled, compiz says
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/patson/.compiz/plugins/libcore.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /usr/lib/compiz/libcore.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/patson/.compiz/plugins/libccp.so : No such file or directory
Nothing works. No window moving, window resizing, no effects, no window borders, nothing.
mlocate can't find any file named "libcore.so".
Something's definitely wrong, but this needs further investigation.
edit: typo fix

The libcore.so message shouldn't matter, compiz works fine with that message you get. Have you checked if any of the plugins are loaded? (compiz 0.8.2 has no default profile and therefore looks like it is not working)

Under the CompizConfig Settings Manager, did you check to see if Window Decoration is checked as well as Move Window and Resize Window?
