As the title says, after upgrading to Gnome 2.26, my monitor no longer powers off after my set 10 minutes. I have fiddled with the power manager settings, but the monitor now just stays on the screensaver forever and won't sleep. Anyone else?

Mine too. Solution (currently) was to use xscreensaver and not gnome-screensaver. No solution has been found that I know of.

I installed xscreensaver and the monitor doesn't seem to power down. Do I have to actually uninstall the gnome-screensaver?

I have same problem with gnome-screensaver. You need to kill gnome-screensaver process and start xscreensaver (as daemon) to work correctly (or change xscreensaver to defautl).

This problem in Ubuntu 9.04 (beta) does not exist. They use the same version , gnome-screensaver and gnome-power-manager (2.24) and Archlinux uses gnome-screensaver 2.26 and g-p-m 2.24.
Maybe this is the key to the bug.

It's possible, but one component doesn't necessarily requires another component of the same version. GDM has been on "2.20" for a long time now and it still works. gnome-power-manager 2.26 has just hit the repositories though.

I've opened FS#14221 in bugs.archlinux.org.
Even with the upgrade, the issue still occurs.
