Hello guys -
I have noticed an weird effect in KDE 4.2.2 when I click the KDE menu Kickoff open and then click on some other window it doesnt minimizes itslef auttomatically but I have to go to the Kickoff menu opne button on the taskbar to minimize it any suggestions to this problem ?
Another quick one; when you are a non root user and try to access your other ard drive partitions you get thsi freedesktop hal permissions denied error; any quick solution to that problem. I have already added the user to group storage and optical!
Furthermore in Kubuntu when I used to open the Kickoff menu the mouse cursor used to - straight go to the search box; while for KDE 4.2.2 in Arch it doesn't which is quiet annoying.
Regards.

I have the same KDE-Kickoff-Menu problem... maybe a bug

And there seems to be another "bug".
I use the Kickoff Search feature A LOT. And since 4.2.2, it isn't focused by default anymore. Even the ALT+F1 shortcut doesnt work.
After seeing this post, I searched a bit and found this bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/271622
I'm about to try the proposed solution and see what happens.

That bugreport is only about opening kickoff with hotkeys - different issue. And yes, the mentioned method (last post) works, but not being able to make kickoff disappear with a click on the desktop remains. And btw, this is not only a kickoff problem - it happens with other applets too. And it does not happen with other Window Managers, so its either a plasma or kwin bug. or both

The kickoff menu does appear when I use the hotkey, I just assigned it again with alt+f1 and then it worked..Yeah, you're right it is just the kickoff menu hotkey...There is a similar post about the kickoff menu not dissappearing when not on focused at the chakra forum, there was a link there pointing towards the bug...They have pointed out that the cause was kwin because when they have used another wm (compiz) the problem was gone...I guess I just have to wait for the fix unless someone had some workaround here...:)

So, this means this workaround is bringing the keyboard focus back to Kickoff?
Anyone else can confirm, that the workaround above (reassigning Alt-F1 to Kickoff) works? I'm using Alt-F2 at the moment as workaround...

yes, reassigning works... but again: it wont bring back your keyboard focus

Here reassigning its not working.
Anyone using a multimonitor display?
I think this issues are all related. At least, to kickoff. Thats why I posted the one about the shortcut + focus on search.

Does this happen to other distro as well using kde 4.2.2?
