Linux Kernel compile help, Blinking keyboad, Vesa screen visible!

Hey guys could you please help me with this error.

I am trying to compile my custom kernel; now the problem is when I reboot with my custome kernel; it reboots and the VESA screen comes up with the penguin on top but the light on my laptop starts blinking.

I have an Asus F8Vr laptop with intel ICH 9 chipset and I have SCSI & SATA built into the kernel.

I believe its an easy solution; perhaps your experiences would help!

1) does default kernel boot without any problems?
2) have you installed initrd
3) your kernel config would be nice
4) ideally run diff between default Arch kernel config and custom one. You will be able to spot differences.

Also, the last few messages on your screen before the blinkenlights start would be useful.
