[SOLVED] Pilot woes - Arch can't sync anymore

Suddenly my palm pilot stopped working in arch. I checked, and there is no /dev/pilot being created. dmesg says:

visor 2-1:1.0: Handspring Visor / Palm OS converter detected
usb 2-1: Handspring Visor / Palm OS converter now attached to ttyUSB0
usb 2-1: Handspring Visor / Palm OS converter now attached to ttyUSB1

but nothing in /dev:

# ll /dev/pilot
ls: cannot access /dev/pilot: No such file or directory
# ll /dev/palm
ls: cannot access /dev/palm: No such file or directory

hal seems to be running.

# ps ax |grep hal
5904 ?        Ss     0:05 /usr/sbin/hald
5908 ?        S      0:00 hald-runner
6004 ?        S      0:00 /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-cpufreq
6005 ?        S      0:00 hald-addon-acpi: listening on acpi kernel interface /proc/acpi/event
6006 ?        S      1:11 hald-addon-storage: polling /dev/sdc (every 2 sec)
6017 ?        S      1:47 hald-addon-storage: polling /dev/sr0 (every 2 sec)
6019 ?        S      2:04 hald-addon-storage: polling /dev/sr1 (every 2 sec)
6020 ?        S      0:05 hald-addon-input: Listening on /dev/input/event1

I tried changing the value in jpilot to /dev/serial/ttyUSB0 and USB1, but that didn't work. When trying to sync, jpilot says:

****************************************
pi_bind error: /dev/ttyUSB1 Permission denied
Check your serial port and settings
Exiting with status SYNC_ERROR_BIND
Finished.
****************************************

And the same for USB0. But I am in the UUCP and the tty groups, and I also made a usb group an added myself to it.

>>EDIT: FIXED - a reboot fixed it somehow. must have needed a udev refresh or something.
