Solved flashdrive mount problem

I gave up on 64bit and reinstalled 32bit. I backed up my data on a flashdrive but it doesn't mount when I plug it in. My usb stick mounts no problem .

If I plug it into a usb port directly connected to the motherboard it works. It apears to be a power problem.

Re: Solved flashdrive mount problem

Just stumbled upon this while browsing the "unanswered posts section". Figured I'd just reply here to remove this since it seems to be a "solved" issue. The clutter is atrocious.

Re: Solved flashdrive mount problem

No not solved yet. I have two flash drives neither will mount but my usb sticks work fine. I need to get some backed up files off the flash drives. They worked fine before I experimented with the 64bit system but now that I have gone back to 32bit no go.

I don't  see how this could be "solved" when the poster and so many others (myself included) still have the problem.  This issue has driven me to another distro, (it works fine on many other distros) but I keep checking back to see if it is really solved yet... I'd love to come back to Arch!:/

Re: Solved flashdrive mount problem

Does it work if you login and use it as root? What's the output of dmesg after you plug the usb drive?

You need to give some more details otherwise no one can help you.

You may want to clarify what you mean by this

You got me lost there, usually "flash drive" and "usb stick" refer to the same kind of devices ... it's ok to use either name but please do use the same name through the post or you may leave people scratching their heads trying to figure out what you want to say wink
