Removing firefox lock from /dev/dsp?

After listening to sound in firefox (embedded flash, or other multimedia), it locks up /dev/dsp and I can't listen to anything else without first closing firefox.  This can be annoying - is there any way of allowing other media apps to use and play sound without shutting down firefox first?

Thanks,
-A.

Do you know what flash plugin firefox uses? Try to click on flash and search wether it is gnash or flash player. If gnash, then see this topic: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=69548

Nasty problem I could not solve, not even with the workarounds that would solve that with other apps like skype, the workarounds made it better but not 100% ok. I made the switch to OSS and never had any more problems like that again.
