hplip tools doesn't work

I've installed hplip and printing works, but I can't get the hplip command line tools to work:

[lars@laptop ~]$ hp-levels -g
warning: python-dbus not installed.

hp-levels[4870]: debug: getDeviceUri(None, None, ('hp',), None, , True)
hp-levels[4870]: debug: Mode=0
hp-levels[4870]: debug: Device URI usb://HP/PSC%20750xi?serial=MY26CD325JWB is invalid/unknown
hp-levels[4870]: debug: Exception: 4 (Unknown/invalid device-uri field)
hp-levels[4870]: debug: {}
error: No device selected/specified or that supports this functionality.

What's wrong? hp-info gives the same error. Doesn't these tools work with my HP PSC 750xi?

Re: hplip tools doesn't work

Installing the printer with hp-setup instead of via the CUPS web interface got me further. Now hp-info works, hp-levels still doesn't:

[lars@laptop ~]$ hp-levels -g

Edit: hp-levels works if I run it as root, but not as a normal user. It says itself though, that it should not be run as root.
