xorg doesn't want to start after a global upgrade

Hi, I first must mention that I'm a newbie at archlinux(So, don't be shocked by what follows ^^).

I wanted to upgrade the whole system, but an error message appeared saying me that upgrading the system was impossible because of the two following files that were already present on the system

/usr/lib/xorg/modules/libwfb.so
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so

So, I removed the two of them, thinking that they were replaced by new binary files.

But when restarting my computer, xorg doesn't start, and I don't know how to solve this problem.

Thank you.

That's too general to give you any reasonable help. The first thing to do is to look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see why X doesn't start.

EDIT: also i'd recommend reading the two threads that relate to the new xorg server here on the forums:

Re: xorg doesn't want to start after a global upgrade

I've looked at this file to see why it doesn't start, but as I said, I'm a beginner, and I do not understand this file ^^

I'm giving screenshots of this file(Arch is virtualized with virtualbox)

Re: xorg doesn't want to start after a global upgrade

The problem is on that picture. Your video driver for xorg (which I imagine is provided by virtualbox) vboxvideo is to be used with xorg-server-1.5.3, the new xorg-server coming from arch is 1.6.0. So the solutions for you are either
1) update the vboxvideo driver (I have no idea how since I don't use virtualbox)
or
2) downgrade xorg-server to 1.5.3.

You don't have to now, the problems there are unrelated to virtualbox.

Re: xorg doesn't want to start after a global upgrade

Ok, I understand the point.

How can I downgrade xorg-server?

Will I have that problem at every system-upgrading?

But personally I think you're better off upgrading virtualbox's driver. Apparently it is somehow available (new guestadditions?) as a quick google search turned up.

Well everytime there's a big xorg-server update, you'll need to update also the vboxvideo driver. So yes. But that doesn't happen too often. Alternatively, you can prevent arch from updating xorg-server, as described in the above wiki.

Re: xorg doesn't want to start after a global upgrade

When I try to downgrade the xorg-server version, the prompt answers me that

opening of the package file impossible

What can I do? ^^

Re: xorg doesn't want to start after a global upgrade

I do not succeed to install the ancient version of xorg server, I searched it in the mirror, but didn't found it...

Has it been removed?

It gets removed as soon as the new one hits the repositories. However not all mirrors sync equally fast, so on gerbra's website:
http://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html
you can find statuses of all arch mirror. Look for one that's older (for instance http://archlinux.freeside.ru/), and either switch to it, or download the required packages manually (eg via a browser). Then 'pacman -U <packagefile>'.
