Alsa No sound {solved: PEBCAK error}

All modules loaded, wiki followed.  Sometime after the update, sound is dead.  Alsa is working perfectly on paper, all analog is unmuted, all digital is muted.  Everything shows good.

No sound.  Is there a bug already submitted?  Ready
to submit.

Re: Alsa No sound {solved: PEBCAK error}

Alsa still works for me on my two systems and just did a system update (VIA and Intel HD audio systems).

What sound card are you using, and what modules are loaded? Anything informative in dmesg? I'm guessing since it was working before your user is in the audio group, and that muting digital output was needed to hear analog sound before.

I'm not an alsa expert, but hopefully more info will help us all glean what may be going on.

Try unmuting HEADPHONES in alsamixer. Sometimes it works.

Re: Alsa No sound {solved: PEBCAK error}

I had the same problem. Try this:
Right-click the loudspeaker icon, next to the clock and select "Show Mixer Window".
Under "Settings" select 'Configure Channels"
Here, I enabled "Side" to get my sound working. You can test this by entering, from the
main menu, System Settings -> Multimedia and clicking the "Test" button.

Hope this helps...

Re: Alsa No sound {solved: PEBCAK error}

Yeah, I'll go over everything again.  I don't have any outside controls that I know of outside of alsamixer because I'm in Fluxbox, but I might start uninstalling things until sound starts working hopefully.  I started thinking and realised it could be a program conflict.  My card is an Audigy 4 using the Audigy 2 Value driver [which is usual].  And for alsa not to be fussing at all?  Very strange, but maybe there is still an error message somewhere.

Re: Alsa No sound {solved: PEBCAK error}

"Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack" needed to be unmuted.

Which entirely means I am the idiot once again.  This is something that had to be unmuted before so I stupidly was going through and trying new things and inadvertently muted it.  Hopefully I can help the idiots like me remember what stupid thing they did so sound stopped working.  Thank you come again.
