Webcam problem.

I have a `ALi m5602' webcam.
It should work correctly since Skype (using LD_PRELOAD=/opt/lib32/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype) works correctly.
But I cannot use it in any other software. I tried xawtv and guvcview with no avail.
The image is distorted and blue.

Maybe the v4l1 support is ok, while v4l2 it is not yet? What can I try?

$ xawtv -hwscan
This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/x86_64 (2.6.29-ARCH)
looking for available devices
port 57-72
    type : Xvideo, image scaler
    name : Radeon Textured Video

/dev/video0: OK [ -device /dev/video0 ]
    type : v4l2
    name : USB2.0 Camera
    flags: capture

Thanks for any hint.

Re: Webcam problem.

Yes, I did read the wiki article. (From there I discovered the workaround for skype)

Re: Webcam problem.

ezzetabi, your webcam should work with the GSPCA driver. It uses v4l2. The support has been introduced recently, though, as can be seen here: http://linuxtv.org/hg/~jfrancois/gspca/ Maybe you could check whether your kernel's module already supports it? ... And I found it, the patches are waiting in linux-next and should, if I understand correctly, be available in 2.6.32: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/g … ;a=summary

You could try to install the module from the staging repository: http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/archive/tip.tar.gz
