I am using Gnome.
So, since yesterday's updates, whenever I close my laptop lid the computer will no longer suspend...or do anything for that matter. I tried the other options in gnome-power-manager to no avail. I did a manual suspend, and it worked fine. I even output the contents of /proc/acpi/buttons/lid/LID/state to make sure it was, in fact registering as closed, which it was. However, the problem persists that upon closing the lid, nothing happens.
Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

That fixed it...I wonder why it isn't working. You'd think they'd notice this sort of thing :-p
