[SOLVED] New kernel can't find /

x86_64, Core 2 Duo, ICH8R

I did a pacman -Syu yesterday, and on reboot, it can't find /. It gets to 'running hook [filesystems]', then errors on 'loading root filesystem module'. Partition as UUID or /dev/sda3 does not make a difference, nor rootfstype=jfs. I don't know the version of the kernel on my last good boot.

Any good ideas on what to do for diagnosis?

Well, back in the gentoo days what I would have done was boot into the live cd, mount the filesystem manually, chroot in and re-compile the kernel.

If someone has a better id please let me know >.<

Isn't that normally part of a kernel upgrade?

Anyway, after a normal mkinitcpio, it now gets to the same point, and gives the same error, but in a 1024x768 framebuffer w/ logos. *sigh* I guess I'll have to try Blazercist's method, later.

...then I'l building a custom kernel the right way: allyesconfig, experimental=n smile. After over a mont of uptime, I still had 1.3GB completely free; a little fat in the kernel won't hurt.
