System sounds not working in KDE.

Now this is an odd situation, and apparently nothing in Google or even in the forums seems to have anything relevant that I can see.

Anyway: My system sounds in KDE don't work, and I have no clue, none, why this is. All my sound otherwise is fine. Pidgin, Amarok, etc have use of sound. Am I lacking some sound daemon KDE wants?

Re: System sounds not working in KDE.

What do you have set in System Settings -> Notifications -> System Notifications -> Player Settings?

Re: System sounds not working in KDE.

Check your sound set up. Right-click the little speaker and `Select Master Chane`l and make sure it is what it should be.
I had once a situation like yours and for some reason I do not know it was set to aux as opposed to pcm ... but I did not change it myself.

Hope this helps.

PCM was already selected. I've also tried "Master" and "Front" and those didn't work either.

Re: System sounds not working in KDE.

Ah. I found a workaround. I switched to "Use an external player." and put in /usr/bin/playsound
