How do I get rid of the system beep? If I block pcspkr from rc.conf my sound is disabled altogether.
It's a ThinkPad T500 laptop.

I disabled "!snd-pcsp"and it works for me.

Thanks, but that module is not loaded. I tried setting it in rc.conf, but it had no effect.

Put "setterm -blength 0" in your ~/.bashrc
Also put "xset -b" if you want the awful X terminal beep to dissapear

Yes, I have ALSA.
Wrath, thanks. But I prefer a "global" solution, if you understand what I mean. If I can't find one, I'll give your suggestion a go.

If your using alsa, it should be in your alsamixer.... why not just mute it?
(I know... every once it a while alsa gets cranky and unmutes it, resulting in a good startle.)
I keep getting distracted from my webserver project...
huh? oooh... shiny!

For the record, it's pcspkr and snd_pcsp.
