[SOLVED] - which cheap graphic card for KDE4?

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but a quick search came up with nowt.

Anyway, I've got a 64 bit install and am about to get myself a 24" monitor. I use KDE4 (vanilla) and would like to make the most of the visual bells and whistles afforded by KDE.

At the mo I've got a Radeon X1550 and a lot of headaches. I know it is cheap, but the ATI driver simply doesn't cut the mustard with this particular card. Only work some desktop effects work and sooner or later it starts eating up my cpu.

I'm after a cheap card which supports all effects. Anybody out there who has got one?

Thanks a ton in advance!

Re: [SOLVED] - which cheap graphic card for KDE4?

I can't believe it! My X1550 works perfectly with KDE4 and compositing with no xorg.conf - I recently had a problem with X and changed from xorg.conf to no xorg.conf. Since then I hadn't tried enabling desktop effects - I did just now and all effects work without eating up my cpu.

Happy toad, happy croaking smile and sorry for taking up the bandwidth.
