Am I delusioning? Xorg hangs on logout (latest version, old doesn't)

After I remembered that I haven't updated my laptop, which is running gnome-panel and openbox, I discovered that it NEVER hangs when I log out of my openbox session since it still has an old Xorg server install...but my computer does sometimes hang when logging out or turning off via KDM of KDEMod3 AND does hang when logging out if "xinit" or "startx" is used to bring up my openbox session, leaving me with either a black screen or a picture of my wallpaper.

Environments that lag on log out w/KDM: KDEMod3, Openbox if gnome-setttings-daemon is running
Envifonments that lag on log out w/o KDM: Openbox, PekWM

...Does anyone have a clue?

In that case, is there a way to downgrade my X.org install?

Package Version downgrade:
1.6.0-3 -> 1.5.3-5
