Stuttering dvd playback in VLC with OSS

Hi,

I recently replaced ALSA with OSS on my system, and everything seemed fine... mpd was playing music well, then I tried to play a DVD in VLC. Its fine at first, but every few minutes the audio starts stuttering for a few seconds. gmplayer on the other hand doesn't have this problem, so I presume its a VLC issue, not an OSS one... could someone help me with this?
