I've had this USB webcam as a gift for a long time (1 yr+) and decided to finally get it working with Skype. It's an unknown brand made in China. After instertion, dmesg will give the following output:
usb 3-5: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
usb 3-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
sn9c102: V4L2 driver for SN9C1xx PC Camera Controllers v1:1.47pre49
usb 3-5: SN9C120 PC Camera Controller detected (vid:pid 0x0C45:0x6130)
usb 3-5: No supported image sensor detected for this bridge
usbcore: registered new interface driver sn9c102
and no /dev/videoN device will be created
'lsusb' list it as
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0c45:6130 Microdia PC Camera (SN9C120)
I've done quite a bit of googling and found no particualarly helpful information. One thing I tried was to download the lastest gspca driver (gspca-5a9a52f1277e.tar.bz2) and compile it. But it complains about some missing headers such as dma.h.
Any information is appreciated. If I have to buy a new one it's fine too. These things are not so expensive. But getting it working would give me more satisfaction and of course keep the wife happy as well. :-)
Thanks,
