When I turn off arch at the shutdown window or run the command "halt" it goes though the normal shutdown steps, but, instead of turning off, it shows "System Halted". Finallt, I have to press the power button to shut it down.
any ideas how to solve it
cheers

Is ACPI set up?

Had the same problem at a comp, look for some ACPI function in the bios and enable it. That did it for me.

I'd never heard of the halt command.... I use
$ sudo shutdown -h now

From the halt manpage:
If halt or reboot is called when the system is not in runlevel 0 or 6, in other words when it's running normally, shutdown will be invoked instead (with the
-h or -r flag). For more info see the shutdown(8) manpage.
