Re: [SOLVED] openoffice fails to start

try to rename OOo's config dir in your home directory.

already done that, nothing changes.... it takes a bit longer while regenerating it...

Try running it as root.

urxvtc / wmii / zsh / configs / onebluecat.net

Re: [SOLVED] openoffice fails to start

same effect. sad

UPDATE: trying to run openoffice from another box through ssh redirecting X with ssh -Y yields the same result. yet running the app natively on the other machine works ok.

so i guess its related to Xorg.... anyone know how this could be? and how to find the problem?

Re: [SOLVED] openoffice fails to start

Same here..using soffice in a terminal doesn't start OpenOffice. No error message at all.

Re: [SOLVED] openoffice fails to start

Arien, this is a different problem, here soffice just exists gracefully, no error being displayed.... i think the issue is with X11 since redirecting the display from another computer's office works ok.

anyone got a way to debug this?

Re: [SOLVED] openoffice fails to start

If it is related to xorg then tell us the xorg version you are using (should be the one on the repos but may not be), the drivers you are using and the driver's version.
I suspect that the problem may be caused by the drivers+xorg combination, I've had (and still have) a few issues regarding that.

uptodate system with 2.7.0 intel drivers and xorg 1.6.1, everything from arch repos, testing is enabed too....

i will try to downgrade the intel drivers and see if it goes away... ive been googleing a lot about this issue and i appear to be the only one with this problem...

EDIT: ive tried running openoffice on the same computer, under a differet account and it worked correcrtly..... (?) what config under my home could be stopping OO to start? anyone?

EDIT2: dont know what, where or when...removed ~/.gconf/ and soffice starts... i searched gconf-editor for staroffice/ openoffice, or anything like that with no results...well..there goes my wallpaper list...
