GNOME Minimum/Maximum levels change?

The max volume is plenty loud enough, but turning down to just half volume of the OSD makes it almost silent.

Is there a way to change the scale?

(Using gconf or something I'd guess.) I know that the incremental values can be changed.

Without knowing your audio card chipset it is hard to direct you to a proper fix, but this may shed some light on your issue.

Re: GNOME Minimum/Maximum levels change?

Thanks for the reply.

It does sound like the same issue, but that seems to be for a Realtek chipset.

My laptop is a Toshiba U400-124, all Intel components. (Santa Rosa platform.)

lspci | grep Audio:

Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

Is that any more help?

I had assumed it was an issue with GNOME, not the hardware itself.
