nvidia killing xorg [SOLVED]

Hello.

I tried searching forums for a similar problem, but nothing helped yet.
I have an NVidia GeForce 9500 GT card.
Normal installation of Arch with vesa and configured through hwd works great.
But every time I install nvidia or nvidia-beta, it works just once (hoses after reboot) if I manually edit xorg.conf or write it from scratch and not at all if I try nvidia-xconfig.

The errors are:
No devices detected.          for starting X.
No Xserver installed!!     for running hwd -xa.

Reinstalling/rebuilding kernel/nvidia/xorg in any order doesn't help, but a clean Arch install does.

Several other distros work, but I use Arch on my other computers and I am more comfortable with it.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: nvidia killing xorg [SOLVED]

Some few questions for you:

1) Have you followed the wiki's beginners guide/nvidia's drivers guide ?

2) What Is the output of 'cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log' ?

3) Have you edited the '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' manually ? (this is, how did you intalled/configured the xorg)

Re: nvidia killing xorg [SOLVED]

Hey!

Thanks a bunch for the reply.
This is the machine with three cards, so I added a BusID value and it worked.

Sorry.
