specs: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2030 with a intel pro 2200bg wireless card wifi is working out of the box (1 of the reason i brought that card £5 ebay) the graphics card is a "Via Unichrome Pro"
when i run start x on my new laptop install, the system becomes unresponsive
there is currently no xorg file.
when i run hwd -xa
i get an error message, saying that there is no Xserver installed. how do i make the default xorg?

edit: i also had this problem when i fitted a new drive in my desktop, and couldnt get past it so i just dd the old drive across. i really wis i could get this laptop working.

hwd -xa and xserver-1.6 seem not to work together. Try 'X -configure' as a starting point. What model is your graphics card?

the graphics card is a Via Unichrome pro

Could it be that you have to load the kernel driver for the GPU manually?
What does 'lsmod | grep via' tell you? (assuming that via is the right module). EDIT: the module is probably called otherwise...

Try with the new version of hwd, it works with new xorg-server. It is ready since april 19, I don't know why it's still not in the repos.
Here is the package for i686 and PKGBUILD if you use Arch64.
