...has anyone else experienced this? Seems to be related to libgnomeprint in some way. Or is it cups?
The terminal output message after the crash says:
"IPP request failed with status 1280"
Googling this phrase doesn't give me much to go on pertinent to solving the issue on Arch....anyone solve this?

Welcome to the forums akjmicro.
Search the forums "IPP request failed". There's a number of threads going on about CUPS that may help.

It seems to be an issue libgnomeprint. There is a bug filed on the issue.
The one workaround seems to be as follows:
Save a blank .rtf document. Open abiword by directly opening the saved .rtf document. Do NOT open abiword, then open the .rtf document. It seems that once a .abw document is opened (as in when you simply start the application) printing will cause a crash. If you are comfortable working with .rtf documents (It works fine with basic formatting) it is simply a small workaround until the issue is resolved.

I wrote a good how-to that shows how to restore normal function to .abw (mostly) on this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 92#p547492
You will be able to open the program, print, save files and open them later to print, as normal. It takes about 3 minutes to implement, then you don't have to mess with telling abiword to save in .rtf or open a special .rtf file anymore.
