CUPS refuses to start

apparently CUPS wont start up anymore
not from rc.conf and also not manually it just gives : :: Starting CUPS Daemon [FAIL]

no error messages or nothing ? how do I trouble shoot this ?

By starting it manually, and not by starting its service, but by calling the binary itself, directly.

I've been able to get it running now, did as told in the wiki (copied a new config file)
and i can now print test pages from the web interface, but some of my applications(evince and gthumb viewer) don't allow me to press the print button when i select my printer
while printing from open office isn't a problem, very weird

If you search the forum you'll find there's a problem with printing PDF files.
