I used hwd -s to output my hardware info:
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation module: i810
Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller
But my system always loads i915 driver.
lsmod | grep 915
i915 31232 2
drm 74280 3 i915
System used this driver working well. I just want to know why?

I guess because the hwd program shouldn't be taken too seriously.

The i915 driver is versatile, look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

@brebs: well, strictly speaking, i915 (that OP is referring to) is a kernel driver (and there's also kernel's i810), and what you wrote is about the xorg's intel driver.

I updated hwd and run hwd -s again. The info changed.
Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller server: XFree86 (intel)
I have tried xf86-video-intel and xf86-video-intel-legacy. They both worked.
