I recently installed mpd using the mpd-pulse script in AUR, but modified so that it fetches the alpha 0.15 of MPD instead of the stable release. The mpd daemon seems to load just fine, but when I launch ncmpcpp I am hearing no sound when attempting to play audio files. Some obvious oddities include: volume is indicated as being '-1%;' and when I try to change the volume I am greeted with the following message: ACK [52@0] {setvol} problems setting volume.
I got mpd running just fine on an Arch Linux setup running ALSA, but I recently reinstalled and decided to go Pulseaudio. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could let me know how to get this working .

I also went pulseaudio and isntalled mpd-pulseaudio.
I followed these instructions: http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup#MPD yesterday and forgot to check if they made it work. They do. I restarted the computer between doing the change and trying it, so if it doesn't work for you after restarting mpd, perhaps try rebooting.

I have no idea why, but the issue seemed to have resolved itself after a couple of reboots.
