[SOLVED] Lost focus on a clicked link

A few days ago, when I clicked on a link to a thread in a forum, a dotted line was shown around the link and remains visible after I returned back to the page after reading the thread.
Now the dotted line is still visible when I click on a link, but when I return to the page, the dotted line has disappeared, and the focus on the last clicked link is lost.
So it's not easy to know where was the last consulted thread or link on a page.
What could be the cause of that, because it worked correctly until a few days ago ?
That new way is annoying to me, because I have a somewhat bad vision, and it helped me to have a means to know easily where I had clicked the last time.

You might want to mention what browser you choose and whether its been recently upgraded.

Re: [SOLVED] Lost focus on a clicked link

I have that in /var/log/pacman.log :
[2009-04-28 15:05] upgraded firefox (3.0.9-1 -> 3.0.10-1)

It's possible, but I am not sure, that the change began around that date.
Do you think Firefox has changed some default values concerning focus policy of clicked links ?

And what can I do to regain the focus policy I need ?
Thanks for replying.

Re: [SOLVED] Lost focus on a clicked link

I'm not sure firefox changed anything.. I am running Arch 64-bit. I hadn't updated firefox yet so I checked that the link focus you mention was working. It was. Now I have updated and restarted firefox and the dotted line around links still exists when I click the back button to go back to the previous page. Could it be the 32-bit version of firefox only? If that's the case, I'd expect others to experience the same thing.

Have you installed any addons or themes recently?

Can you confirm that you have that in the Arch Forums ?
Because I still have the right focus on clicked links when I search Google and go back to the previous page, but not in the Arch Forums or LinuxQuestions Forums as before.

I use Arch 64, and I have in /var/log/pacman.log :
[2009-04-24 15:45] installed qtcurve-gtk2 (0.62.8-1)
[2009-04-26 22:42] upgraded gtk-kde4 (0.8-1 -> 0.9b-3)

I use the qtcurve-gtk2 theme which I chose with the gtk-kde4 menu options.

But I have tested Firefox in safe mode, and it's the same in the Arch or LinuxQuestions Forums.
As the safe mode deactivates all themes and addons, I don't think it's the cause of the problem.

I don't understand what happens, as the focus policy works in Google ?

Re: [SOLVED] Lost focus on a clicked link

I have found the "culprit" which causes the lost of the focus when coming back to a page in the Arch forum :
the javascripts from the Google syndication ads.
When I forbid googlesyndication.com with the Noscript extension, I recover the function I missed, with the focus on clicked links in the Arch Forums.
I don't know exactly why it works like that, but I am constrained to forbid the ads for that reason. Sorry.
