So I've been controlling myself from being annoyed all this while..but I finally decided that the ugly black arrow totally spoils the user's mood (not kidding you!).
You have a beautiful desktop..beautiful wallpaper..beautiful girlfriend..and beautiful cursor theme, until of course you drag something and all hell breaks loose.
Which icon does the drag action refer to? Why is it so stubborn and not get replaced by the current theme? In fact, I don't even get to see half of the cursor icons installed by a particular theme. There are so many different ones for different actions, but most of the time I just see the basic ones which show up again and again even for those different actions. Happens on both kde from extra and kdemod.
Please save me.

I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

It may be related to this:

As far as I know the same problem exists in Kubuntu. I reported this issue at kde.org, but no one responded.

Not to mention that the whole interface just lags horribly when dragging something..any link to the bug you reported?

I don't notice any slowness. Here's link to report:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189947
P.S. I'm upgrading to KDE 4.2.3 and we'll see if this problem is fixed there.

Nope. Still there.
Finally found some bug reports with a proper search term:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=kd … tnG=Search
And from there:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=173718
All the way back to:
http://websvn.kde.org/branches/qt/3.3/q … rev=497379
So it all looks like an old inherent minor glitch that I doubt will be taken care of anytime soon. Oh well..I'll just imagine or close my eyes during a DnD
