Sound only for one program at a time?

I'm running the 2.6.29-ARCH kernel, 64bit Arch, and kdemod (the latest KDE 4.2.2 version).

My sound card is this:

-PCI Devices-
Audio device : nVidia Corporation MCP78S [GeForce 8200] High Definition Audio

I've done a little research, and it seems like this is a problem, but I haven't found any solutions.

Your applications may be trying to run multiple audio drivers (ALSA/OSS/ESD/PulseAudio/...) at the same time. Not sure how you can go about fixing that, but it's a start...

I don't think that is the case. For instance, when I attempt to run civ4 in wine i get this:

Re: Sound only for one program at a time?

Thanks Zariel! I totally spaced the wiki part... *faceplam*
So I disabled the OSS modules, whiched stopped my programs from crashing, then in alsamixer, i maxed out PCM sound.

Thanks
