Laptop touchpad not working.

Well yesterday my touchpad stopped working. I was trying to make it so I could tap on it to make it click, but I didn't get that to work. I tried setting stuff back to how it was before, but  I didn't succeed. I also tried following the synaptics wiki, but it still doesn't seem to work.

Also another problem is, sometimes when I'm justing using Arch, and I press enter the screen gets all these lines through it and freezes up. Its hard to explain, and if it happens again I'll take a picture and upload it.

I don't think you understand. The touchpad does not work at all. I can not move the mouse with the touchpad.

Re: Laptop touchpad not working.

Do you have xf86-input-synaptics installed? Is your xorg.conf configured for synaptics, OR does HAL have the appropriate FDI?

If you're using hot-plugging, copy the appropriate FDI to the location specified in the wiki.

If you're not, specify everything you want in the xorg.conf

But if you're not getting response at ALL, then either the touchpad is not working (very unlikely) or you do not have xf86-input-synaptics

Assuming he has a Synaptics touchpad...

Re: Laptop touchpad not working.

Yes my touchpad is Synaptics. I am not using hot-plugging.
I have triple checked my xorg.conf, but I guess I'll check it again. I do have xf86-input-synaptics installed also.

Re: Laptop touchpad not working.

I found that i needed some more packages.

i think it was "extra/xf86-input-mouse" that solved this problem for me since i had this yesterday.
