startx hangs my machine!!!

Hello,

I have downloaded arch-0.6-base.iso then I did a fresh install.
I pacman -Syu,
pacman -S xorg
pacman xfce4
I ran xorgconf then added /opt/xfce4/bin/startxfce4 in my ~/.xinitrc

When I type startx I have a blank screen and my k/b does not respond at all!! I have to push restart button. I double check my xorg.conf file and everything is ok. I don't know why X does not want to start?

Any idea?

What video card are you using? Also, is pre-empt enabled? Which ver. of kernel?
