Re: firewall / anti virus

Anti-virus apps are not so necessary on linux - for obvious reasons, but there are more programmes cropping up. There is an arch package for clamav which seems to have a good reputation, although I've never used it.
In terms of firewall, it's defintely worth taking the time to set up properly. THere are graphical apps like kmyfirewall and firestarter, but it's worth getting stuck in at a lower level and looking at iptables and learning how to get it do exactly what you want...

Re: firewall / anti virus

you can try gShield for setting up IP tables - that has worked well for me and the gShield.conf file is very informative

i have easily managed to set up my iptableswith gShield to get a Perfect Stealth rating at Shields Up https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2  big_smile
